Ephphatha – be opened!

The people recognized Jesus for who He was – a Man of God – and they brought to Him their sick and suffering begging Jesus to heal them.  In today’s Gospel, Mark 7:31-37, “And people brought to Him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged Him to lay His hand on him.”  Jesus takes the man aside, and “He put His finger into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then He looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, ‘Ephphatha’ – that is, ‘Be opened’ – and immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly.”

My morning reflection centered on my need for healing.  Perhaps you can identify.  How often am I deaf to the Word of God.  God speaks to me in a thousand ways each day and so often I do not hear.  How…
