Fidelity not perfection

There is a young man (age 29) who periodically calls me.  He is a popular high school teacher, gifted musician and a believing, practicing Christian.  He also struggles with internet pornography. He believes in not having sex before marriage but has had difficulty in dating relationships where young women assume sex is part of dating.  He would like to get married some day and have a family.  He realizes that he must, first of all, get a handle on his addiction to pornography.  He goes to a Twelve Step program that addresses the issue of sexual addiction and tries to work that program.  He often finds himself acting out on the internet..

I say to him and to myself and to anyone reading this blog:  what Jesus asks of you and me is not perfection but fidelity.  By perfection, I mean putting our lives completely together and being without fault/sin. …
